The Icarus

I remember how we used to be
We were young, bold, fast, happy
I remember when we were flying
the Icarus.
I saw the horizon,
I thought we would reach it
I saw the ocean,
Never pictured we’d be beneath it
I saw the burning sun…
I never intended to touch it.
The problem you see,
Is that we couldn’t keep our heads
above the ocean
The echo ripples through the water,
Drowns out our laughter.
